General Questions
Is the GMAT Exam gone?
No, it’s not gone! The previous edition of the GMAT Exam has been retired as of February 1, 2024, and replaced with the updated version of the exam called the GMAT Focus Edition. That means GMAT Focus Edition is the GMAT Exam, and therefore not gone at all.
Why were both editions of the GMAT previously available, but now only one is?
The GMAT Focus Edition and the previous edition of the GMAT Exam were available concurrently for a limited time to support candidates who were already preparing to take the GMAT Exam.
How is it the same exam when it has fewer sections, a shorter duration, and new features?
The exam has been updated to provide a more efficient, more flexible, and more insightful test taking experience. In fact, the GMAT has gone through many updates since it was first launched in 1954 in order to continually meet the needs of business schools and candidates.
Can I still take the previous edition of the GMAT Exam if I want to?
No. The GMAT Focus Edition is the only version of the GMAT that is now available. However, it’s nearly one hour shorter than its predecessor and includes numerous new features to better support your journey to business school.
How long will scores from the previous edition of the GMAT Exam be valid?
Scores from the previous edition of the GMAT Exam will continue to be valid for 5 years from your appointment date.
Registration Questions
If I have an existing GMAT Voucher or Fee Waiver, can I use it to register for the GMAT Focus Edition?
Yes, you can use an existing voucher for your GMAT Focus Edition registration fee.
What accommodations are available for the GMAT Focus Edition?
Learn more at Testing Accommodations.
How many times can I take the GMAT Focus Edition?
All GMAT exam attempts across all editions of the exam, taken online or at a test center, will count towards your five (5) GMAT exam attempts during a rolling 12-month period and eight (8) total lifetime limits.
Prep and Score Report Questions

Purchasing GMAT Exam prep products will no longer be possible after January 31, 2024.
However, you will have access to any GMAT™ Official Prep products for the previous edition of the GMAT Exam that is available in your account through May 31, 2024.
You will continue to have access to any GMAT™ Focus Edition Official Prep available in your account, subject to the applicable product terms.
GMAT™ Focus Official Practice Exams: Can I take Practice Exams 1 and 2 more than once?
It is possible to retake exams but keep in mind that with each retake, there is a higher chance that the questions will be repeated. Additionally, seeing a question multiple times increases the likelihood of getting it right, so resetting the exam multiple times is not recommended.
GMAT™ Focus Official Practice Exams: Can I take Practice Exams 3-6 more than once?
You can reset Practice Exams 3-6 once.
GMAT™ Focus Official Practice Exams: How can I review my questions on the Score Report?
Click on each section tab to see more details regarding your performance in that section, including performance and timing on each question and performance by question type and skills. To get an overview of your performance, click on the chart view.
GMAT™ Focus Official Practice Exams: Can I take a practice exam on my phone?
No. We require that you launch all Practice Exams from a desktop or laptop browser to replicate your test day experience.
GMAT™ Focus Official Practice Exams: I repurchased the same practice exam product. Why is it not showing in my test portal?
To access a repurchased practice exam, you must use up all your attempts for the paid exam. For instance, if you buy a practice exam 5 twice, you must complete both attempts before the repurchased practice exam appears. Once you have completed all attempts for a practice exam, any newly purchased practice exam(s) will become available. However, if you repurchase the same exam, you may encounter some repeat questions.
I have purchased the GMAT™ Official Guide 2023-2024; why can't I find Multi-Source Reasoning, Two-Part Analysis, Graphics Interpretation, or Table Analysis questions in the book?
The additional Data Insights question types do not appear in the book due to the question rendering requirements needed for each type. Users must log in to the online question bank via mba.com to access these questions. To do so:

GMAT™ Focus Official Practice: Can I open the exam on multiple browser windows?
We do not recommend this as it could result in errors and does not simulate the actual test-taking experience.
