Business degrees and the in-demand occupations they’re supporting in today’s job market.

When picking a business master’s degree, there are a variety of things to consider—from learning style and quality of life, to location and career path—and different factors carry different weights. One thing that’s clear, you’ll want to understand which degrees will get you on a path to the employment you seek and that meets your personal and professional goals.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) designates 101 occupations as requiring a graduate degree for entry, and recently identified six career fields with the most projected openings for graduate-level occupations.1 Below are a few degrees you may not have considered and the in-demand occupations they’re supporting in today’s global job market.

Education

Education is one of the trending topics making waves across the globe. Consider a Master in Educational Leadership if you’re interested in running a school and coordinating the programs that help people learn. Coupled with work experience, this degree can help land you a job as a school principal or administrator, with a median annual wage of nearly US$95,000.2

Health care

As the world population ages, so does the demand for quality health care. Among the fastest growing occupations projected until 2026, you’ll find a range of employment opportunities for health professionals.3 Medical offices, clinics, and hospitals, for example, need supervisors to coordinate services and care. A Master in Health Administration or Public Health can give you the skills and experience needed to run a successful team in this growing industry and put you in reach of a six-figure salary.4

Science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM)

Careers in science, technology, engineering, and math are also expected to experience continued growth through at least 2026. A Master in Economics degree can contribute to your work as a statistician, one of the top 10 fastest-growing occupations.5 Or, opt to serve your community by conducting urban and regional planning using a business master’s in public policy management or public administration.

Whichever path you choose, you can be confident in your investment. According to the BLS, “Employment in master’s-level occupations is projected to grow by almost 17 percent from 2016 to 2026, the fastest of any education level.”6
