Reaching out to communities throughout Central Iowa, teams of Iowa State University MBA students assisted seven local nonprofits with a wide variety of business-related issues this past spring. The service learning projects are part of a professional skills development course taken by first-year MBA students.

Teams of first-year Iowa State MBA students were able to apply what they are learning in the classroom by serving as consultants to eight local non-profit organizations this spring. In its third year now, the Iowa State MBA service learning project experience has proven to be a win-win situation for students and the community alike.

The Iowa State MBA includes a professional skills development course in which students actively engage in service learning projects. These projects offer MBA students experiential learning opportunities focusing on volunteerism and community involvement.

Five teams of Iowa State University MBA students worked with two local United Way agencies on community service projects during the spring 2011 semester. Service projects are an integral part of a new professional skills development course in the Iowa State MBA program.
