Record numbers of women considering b-school
International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated annually on 8 March as a day
of recognition for the achievements of women across the globe. Coinciding with this
event GMAC offers new perspectives on the milestone numbers of women planning on
a business education to accelerate or switch their careers.
Business schools the world over are experiencing record breaking demand, seen in
GMAT test-taker volumes where women now command 39.5% of the talent heading into
business school. In actual fact, more than 104,000 women took the GMAT exam
to apply for MBAs and Master degrees in 2008-2009. These are the highest numbers
of women ever recorded to have sat for the GMAT exam in any one testing year, giving
them more choice and control in their professional lives – an option worth
considering in these turbulent times.
