Road-Tested GMAT bus brings GMAT exam directly to students

If you live far from a GMAT test center, you may find the Graduate Management Admission Test coming to a campus near you.

The Graduate Management Admission Council launches its fourth Mobile GMAT Test Center tour on March 3, 2009, at California State University-Bakersfield in Bakersfield, Calif. The GMAT Mobile Test Center, a customized bus with six exam stations, will travel 4,500 miles in three months to administer the GMAT exam at 17 universities in 12 states.

The bus will visit campuses at least 40 miles from a GMAT test center, including rural campuses, Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and Hispanic-Serving Institutions. The spring 2009 tour will conclude June 6 at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Mich.

On the bus, examinees take the four-hour GMAT exam under the same secure, standardized conditions offered at more than 400 GMAT test centers in more than 100 countries.

The Mobile GMAT Test Center was launched in 2006 to increase access to graduate management education by bringing the exam, used in admissions by more than 4,000 business programs, directly to students. The bus toured the United States twice before traversing Canada in the summer of 2008.

To take the exam on the bus, you must register at least 24 hours in advance, as you would for a permanent test center. Test appointments are limited to 24 exams at each site. Registration for mobile GMAT testing is the same:

  • Online
  • By phone
  • By fax, or
  • By postal mail
