Meeting Enrollment Requirements

Now that you’re in, make sure you get the details right.

Read what the school sends you and make sure you meet all the requirements:

  • Send matriculation forms and deposits back immediately.
  • Be sure you meet any other deadlines or conditions.
  • Fill out all forms provided by your school as soon as you accept the offer of admission.

Meet Prerequisites

Prerequisites are required courses a b-school expects you to have completed before you enroll in their MBA program. If you have any academic shortcomings, a school may ask you to take specific course work before enrolling, such as calculus, computing technology, and statistics.

Prerequisites at most schools are a condition of enrollment. You might be admitted with the understanding that you will complete certain courses prior to the first term.

Make sure you do the following:

  • Double-check any coursework conditions or prerequisites you must complete before starting your program.
  • Register for prerequisite courses early enough to complete all requirements in time to begin your program as planned.

Deal with Academic Shortfalls

Even if you are not required to complete any prerequisite courses, consider classes or self-study in calculus, statistics, and economics—they can help strengthen any quantitative skills that might need improvement. Taken early enough, they can also improve your application.

If you are wondering whether you need a refresher course, you probably do—the longer you have been out of school, the more likely you are to need some review. Don’t wait until you are admitted to take supplementary coursework!
