Official Rules: 2012 GMAC® GMAT® with Integrated Reasoning Online Scavenger Hunt Drawings
NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. ENTRY INTO THESE DRAWINGS CONSTITUTES ACCEPTANCE OF THESE OFFICIAL RULES. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.
If you agree to participate in the 2012 GMAC® Online Scavenger Hunt Drawings, you may be eligible to win the prizes described below. In order to be eligible to win the prize or participate in the Drawings, find the daily clue and correctly answer a trivia question.
1. ELIGIBILITY
To be eligible to participate in the 2012 GMAC® Online Scavenger Hunt Drawings (“Drawings”), you must (i) find the daily clue that is posted on www.mba.com/virtualevents ; (ii) correctly answer the daily trivia question that is available on www.mba.com, and (iii) be above the age of majority in the jurisdiction in which you reside at the time of entry. Employees, officers, and directors of the Graduate Management Admission Council®, and their immediate families and those living in their households, are not eligible to participate in the Drawings. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.
2. TERM
The Drawings will begin at 12:01 am eastern standard time (EDT) on April 17, 2012, and ends at 11:59 pm EDT on April 19, 2012 (“Term”).
3. SPONSOR
Graduate Management Admission Council®, 11921 Freedom Drive, Reston VA 20190 USA, is the sponsor of the Drawings (“Sponsor” or “GMAC”).
4. HOW TO PARTICIPATE
NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. During each day of the Term, potential entrants can receive a clue to answer a trivia question from the Sponsor at www.mba.com. To enter the Drawings, answer the trivia question of the day on www.mba.com/virtualevents/scavengerhunt during the Term.
You must submit a correct answer to the trivia question during the Term to be eligible to receive the prizes described below.
LIMIT: ONE (1) ENTRY PER PERSON AND EMAIL ADDRESS PER DAY. Subsequent entries will be disqualified. All entries become the property of Sponsor. They will not be returned or acknowledged. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, mutilated, incomplete, or illegible entries, or for any computer-related, online, telephonic, or technical malfunctions that may occur. Entries are void if they are in whole or in part illegible, incomplete, damaged, irregular, altered, counterfeit, produced in error, forged, mechanically reproduced or obtained through fraud or theft. By entering you agree to be bound by these Official Rules. If you are entering on behalf of your employer, these rules are binding on you, individually, and your company.
In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted an entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. A selected entrant may be required to provide Sponsor with proof that he or she is the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the selected entry.
As part of this process, Sponsor may collect certain personal information from each participant, including his or her name, address, and email address. Any use of participant’s personal data will comply with the terms of Sponsor’s privacy policy located at www.gmac.com.
5. WINNER SELECTION
The Sponsor will select One (1) daily winner and one (1) grand prize winner from the drawings during the Term. Specifically, each day during the Term a prize will be awarded to one individual whose name is drawn from the pool of participants who correctly answered the trivia question for that day, and at the end of the term, one grand prize winner will be chosen from all participants who correctly answered any trivia question during the Term.
Participants may only win one daily prize during the drawing. All participants are eligible for the Grand Prize.
6. PRIZES
Sponsor will be awarding the following Prizes:
One (1) daily prize winner will be selected by random drawing to receive the Basic GMAT Study Collection which includes The Official Guide for GMAT Review, 13th Edition, The Official Guide for GMAT Verbal Review, and The Official Guide for GMAT Quantitative Review. Approximate Retail Value (“ARV”) of each Prize: US$78.85.
One (1) grand prize winner will be selected by random drawing to receive a GMAT exam voucher valid for one year. Approximate Retail Value (ARV) of each Prize: US$250.00
Total ARV: US$487.00.
The prizes shall be accepted on an “as is” basis and for which Sponsor makes no warranties or representations nor accepts any responsibility. All decisions on all matters pertaining to the Drawings are final. Sponsor will ship the GMAT Exam Guides prepaid at Sponsor’s expense, and the GMAT exam vouchers will be delivered via email. Winner is responsible for any and all taxes. Sponsor reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. Limit one daily prize and one weekly prize per person, family, or household. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.
Individual odds of winning a prize are increased the earlier one enters the Drawings.
7. WINNER NOTIFICATION
Random selection of the potential winner will occur on or about the end of the survey term. Prize drawings will be conducted at Sponsor’s office in Reston, Virginia. The potential daily winners will be notified by email on or about the following day of each respective drawing and the weekly winners will be notified on April 20, 2012. Potential winners will have fourteen (14) days from notification to claim his or her prize. Sponsor and its affiliates, subsidiaries, employees, agents, officers and directors, advertising and drawing agencies, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and their respective agents will not be liable for unsuccessful efforts to notify a winner. The daily prize will be delivered by first class or equivalent postal mail, and the weekly prize will be delivered by email. No prize transfer, assignment, or substitution by winner permitted. Sponsor may substitute the prize for one of equal or greater value. All federal, state, and local taxes, fees, and surcharges on prizes are the sole responsibility of the winners. If any potential winners fails to respond to the prize notification within 14 days, declines the prize, fails to claim the prize, is unavailable for prize fulfillment, fails to abide by the Official Rules, or is ineligible, Sponsor may select an alternate winner from all remaining eligible entries. If any prize or prize notification is returned as undeliverable, that prize is forfeited and Sponsor may select an alternate winner from all remaining eligible entries.
8. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
- Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Drawings.
- By participating, entrants and winners release Sponsor, its affiliates, parent, and subsidiary companies, its employees, agents and officers, advertising and promotion agencies, as well as all others associated with the development and execution of the Drawings, from and against any and all liability with respect to or in any way arising from the Drawings and the awarding and use of the prizes. Sponsor assumes no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, or delay in operation or transmission; communications line failure; theft or destruction of or unauthorized access to Drawing entries or entry forms; or alteration of entries or entry forms.
- Participants also agree (a) to be bound by these Official Rules; and (b) that the decisions of Sponsor are final on all matters relating to the Drawings. If you are acting within the scope of your employment, as an employee, contractor, or agent of another party, you warrant that such party has full knowledge of your actions and has consented thereto. You further warrant that your actions do not violate your employers or company’s policies and procedures.
9. LAWS
The Drawings are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, USA, without regard to the conflicts of law provisions.
10. WINNERS LIST
To obtain the names of the winners, send a request, along with a self-addressed, stamped envelope, to Legal Department, Graduate Management Admission Council®, 11921 Freedom Drive, Suite 300, Reston VA 20190 USA. (Residents of Vermont need not supply postage.) You will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement prior to receiving the winners list to protect the privacy of the winners.
